Following the storm system that brought rain, thunderstorms and snow across our region, we are entering a period of much nicer weather. Skies cleared out from north to south overnight allowing temperatures to drop into the 20s and 30s.
High pressure builds into the Central Plains today providing the start of a nice quiet spell of weather for Kansas.
Today will be the coolest day of the weekend before warming winds commence on Sunday. Highs this afternoon will be in the lower to middle 50s, a few degrees below average for this time of year but skies will be mostly sunny with a breeze out of the north which will be gusty at times.
Under clear skies with lighter winds, tonight will be chilly with temperatures dropping into the 20s by daybreak on Sunday.
Daylight saving time begins tonight, so remember to set your clocks ahead by one hour before you go to bed.
The winds shift out of the south to southwest jump Sunday with plenty of sunshine allowing a warm-up into the 60s by Sunday afternoon, a beautiful way to finish the weekend.
Our dry stretch of weather will last until later on Wednesday when a slow-moving storm system will begin to emerge out of the southwestern part of the country. Temperatures will continue to warm with most locations reaching the 70s Monday and Tuesday.
With increasingly warm temperatures, a bit of a breeze and dry conditions, fire danger begins to pop back up early next week. The unsettled weather which returns beginning Wednesday may linger into the later part of the upcoming week. We will need to see the degree as to how much moisture we can get out this time into the following weekend. Not everybody will get rain, storms, or snow, but some could benefit.
