K-State falls to Cincinnati after Bearcats’ huge three late

CINCINNATI (KSNT) – K-State men’s basketball suffered a loss on Saturday against one of its newest conference opponents.

The Wildcats fell to the Bearcats, 74-72, in the first meeting between the two since Cincinnati joined the Big 12.

It’s a loss that takes a heavy toll on K-State’s hopes of securing an NCAA tournament bid, as the ‘Cats fall to 17-12 overall and 7-9 in league play.

K-State stormed back from down 13 and took the lead with 1:16 left. However, Cincinnati’s Simas Lukosius hit a 3-pointer to give the Bearcats the lead back. K-State had two possessions, down two, in the final ten seconds but couldn’t score on either.

Kansas State returns to action on Tuesday against KU. The Jayhawks and Wildcats tipoff at 8 p.m. in Lawrence.
