Police investigate death of 2-year-old in east Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita Police Department is investigating after a 2-year-old child was found dead at a home near Pineridge and Zimmerly.

The home is just east of Edgemoor and between Lincoln and Harry.

Someone called 911 around 10:50 a.m. to report a child was not breathing. First responders arrived and said the toddler was dead.

“We don’t know the cause or about why it happened at this point,” Lt. Krys Henderson, WPD, said. “It’s still an ongoing case with the coroner’s office.”

He said some people were very emotional about the child’s death, and that is why more officers than usual were on the scene.
