MANHATTAN (KSNT) — The Little Apple wants your input to help future development of the east side of town.
The City of Manhattan held an open house for its East Manhattan Gateway Plan Monday. The city wants your feedback on what improvements can be made in the area between the intersection of Highway 24 and Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Hopkins Creek Road.
“We are just at the beginning of this process, so your input will guide the vision for this plan,” Ben Chmiel, a senior planner with the City’s Community Development Department, said in a press release.
The focus area includes the “McCall Triangle” in eastern Manhattan, as well as several greenfields east of the city.
Stantec, the city’s consultant for the project, will help develop a plan, according to the city’s website. The process started early last year, and hopes to adopt a plan in 2025. A committee of members appointed by the City of Manhattan will also guide the plan.
Monday’s open house was at the Army National Guard, located at 721 Levee Dr, Manhattan, KS 66502. Tuesday’s open house will be at Crestview Christian Church from 4-5:30 p.m., located at 3940 Excel Road, Manhattan, KS 66502.
