12 February 2024
A system is departing to the East that brought some snow to Southeast Kansas over the last 24.
Overnight, temps will become chilly in the 20s under a starry sky.
Grab a jacket for the pancake breakfast in Liberal Tuesday morning. Temperatures warm in time for the International Pancake Day Race at 11:55 AM. You can ditch your layers all together by the time the parade starts in the afternoon.
Temperatures return to the warmth for a good chunk of this week. With a downslope wind, temperatures will warm to the 50s and 60s over the next few days. It will feel like spring with sunshiny skies.
A few rain showers are possible across Northeast Kansas, around the KC Metro Wednesday night, well after the Champions Parade for the Chiefs.
Expect a large crowd through KC and around Union Station to welcome the Chiefs home after winning the Big Game due to unseasonably warm temperatures.
A cold front arrives by Thursday, dropping temps a few degrees. There will be a stronger push of colder air Friday that will be more reminiscent of February.
This front will also squeeze out a few rain and snow showers. Better chances for snow showers later this week will be across northern Kansas. Any accumulations will be kept light due to melting. Plus, this frontal system does not have much moisture to work with at this time.
Temperatures will be cool this weekend and the heat will ramp up again into next week, offering up highs back to the 50s and 60s. No big storm systems are lined up for us in the weather pattern that we are currently in across Kansas.
