WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas City Chiefs are taking home some new bling after locking down a huge win for another championship. Businesses showing the big game in Wichita were busy tonight, packed with fans.
Some people even traveled long distances to root for their favorite team. Susan and Rick Wilmore made a nearly four hour trek to watch the game.
“250 miles from Ulysses, Kansas,” Rick Wilmore said.
The longtime Chiefs fan said he made his way to Emerson Biggins Sports Bar in Old Town Wichita to be in a fun atmosphere around other people rooting for their team.
“I’m cheering for the Chiefs all day every day,” Chiefs fan Jamillah Bonner, also at Emerson Biggins, said. She’s been rooting for the team for about seven years now.
“Honestly this season has not been that good for us,” Bonner said. “It’s really a shock for me, it’s a miracle they made it to the (big game).”
With this win Bonner and others are holding out hope next season will go even better for the chiefs.
“I think they could probably be in the same predicament and they could probably go all the way again,” said Chiefs fan Stacey Watson.
With the chiefs win, festivities are in order.
“We’re gonna be here for a while and we’re gonna celebrate,” Bonner said.
“I’m going home and I’m shooting off fireworks,” Watson said.
