TOPEKA (KSNT) – Washburn men’s and women’s hoops both fell at the hands of the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Saturday.
Despite a 20-point game from Aubree Dewey, the women’s team was defeated 62-50 at home. The Ichabods kept things close for most of the contest, entering halftime up 24-23. However, the Bearcats ran away with it in the fourth quarter.
The women’s team drops to 11-12 on the season.
The men’s team lost a nail-biter, falling 75-72 to the Bearcats. The game featured 15 lead changes and six ties, with the Ichabods fighting until the final possession. A Michael Keegan 3-pointer cut the score to 73-72 with six seconds to play, but the Bearcats held on.
Three Ichabods scored in double digits, with Keegan tallying a team-high 16 and Jack Bachelor and Andrew Orr scoring 12 apiece.
The men’s team drops to 15-8 on the season.
Up next, both Washburn squads will be on the road at Central Oklahoma on Saturday, Feb. 17. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. for the women and 3:30 p.m. for the men.
