TOPEKA (KSNT) – Governor Laura Kelly has declared Friday to be a special day for honoring the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Feb. 9, Kelly announced ‘Red Friday’ would be in effect to help hype Kansans up before the Chiefs Super Bowl appearance at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, according to a press release from the Office of the Governor. The Chiefs are heading to Las Vegas to face off against the San Francisco 49ers for the 58th Super Bowl.
“Since I became governor six years ago, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and Travis Kelce have led the Chiefs to an unprecedented four Super Bowl appearances,” Kelly said. “It is clear they are building a dynasty that is benefiting the entire region, including here in Kansas. I have bet on the Chiefs many times before, and I am confident that they will reign victorious once again in Las Vegas.”
This game will be a rematch of Super Bowl LIV from 2020. The Chiefs won that game, bringing home their first Vince Lombardi Trophy in half-a-century.
