When will Topeka street sweeping resume?

6 February 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Local residents can expect to see street sweepers at work on Topeka’s streets by next week.

The City of Topeka’s website reports that street sweeping crews will get started cleaning local roads the week of Monday, Feb. 12. Residents are advised to keep their eyes open for street sweeping signs posted the day before street sweeping is set to take place and move your vehicle to let the crews conduct their work.

City crews have not been working to clean local streets due to the recent efforts to repair Topeka’s potholes. A recent pothole emergency was extended to the week of Monday, Feb. 5, requiring much of the city’s personnel to focus on road repairs rather than road cleaning.

Will homeowners be on the hook for lead pipes in Topeka?

The City of Topeka divides the local streets into different zones which can be found on this online map. The city’s street sweeping schedule is seasonal with dates depending on equipment availability, weather and staffing availability.
