5 February 2024
Low clouds will eventually break free this evening. That said, as temperatures cool overnight, more fog is possible and could be locally dense farther east.
Temps will be chilly overnight before a warming trend takes over the region for several days.
Highs will climb with sunshine returning through mid-week. Highs in the 50s and 60s will bring a spring fling to the week before turning cooler with the next cold front on the approach by Thursday.
Ahead of this cold front on Wednesday, temperatures will be warm, and it will be windy. Winds will gust between 35 and 45 MPH from Wednesday into Thursday as this front marches through the region.
With the unseasonable warmth and dry conditions, fire weather concerns will grow.
A few rain showers will dot the Kansas sky Wednesday into Thursday, but most will miss out on this chance. Temperatures will turn cooler heading into the weekend.
There is a stronger system pegged for Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. The track is still to be determined. Too far south and we could completely miss the moisture connection.
However, a farther northerly track will bring a chance for rain showers initially to western Kansas Saturday afternoon and a transition to snow farther northwest as the colder air arrives.
Saturday night into Sunday morning, a rain/snow mixture will track across the rest of the state. It will be a colder weekend, but not bitter like it was back in January. It should be dry for any Big Game celebrations here at home Sunday evening.
More seasonable air will be in place next week.
