DENVER (KDVR) — Weather and speed appeared to be factors when a car crashed into two houses in Aurora, Colorado, on Saturday morning.
Aurora police (APD) said the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. when the driver of a minivan lost control and crashed into two homes.
APD said the driver was going northbound on Peoria Street and then turned left onto Peoria Circle. However, the motorist was driving too fast for the weather and road conditions, and ended up flying through a mailbox before hitting the houses.
The back of the vehicle ended up propped atop a trash can, photos show.
The crash required extrication by Aurora Fire Rescue. The driver suffered minor injuries.
Nexstar’s KDVR obtained security camera footage from a neighbor that shows the minivan driving into a mailbox before crashing off camera.
Sean Weed’s home is one of the two that was damaged.
“I was actually sitting in my garage, and I heard a loud bang and crash, and it appears that a minivan was traveling northbound on Peoria and hit a fence a block down and ended up coming through our yard, hit the corner of my house … and then hit the neighbor’s house,” Weed said.
APD said no one inside either of the homes was injured.
Two homes were damaged in the crash, but AFR said they were not condemned.
