GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — The Garden City school district has changed graduation dates.
In a letter sent out to families, the district says that due to the amount of snow dates, they will need to move the graduation dates for both high school and Garden City Achieve. However, the school year is still scheduled to end for everyone else on May 23.
In Kansas, high school seniors must complete 1,116 hours in a school year to graduate. However, because of the amount of snow days already used, seniors will have to make up for the additional time lost due to the weather.
Graduation for Garden City Achieve will now be held on Saturday, May 18, while the graduation ceremony for Garden City High School will be held on Sunday, May 19.
The district will release more information about the ceremonies, including start times, at a later date.
