Man who killed QT security guard in downtown Wichita sentenced

MCPHERSON, Kan. (KSNW) — A man will face charges in McPherson County for the December crash that killed 30-year-old Ashley Austin.
Austin, a Canton-Galva teacher, died at a Wichita hospital following the Dec. 15 crash that happened on U.S. 56 at 24th Avenue between Canton and Galva. The driver of a Nissan SUV crossed the center line and struck Austin’s vehicle.
The McPherson County Sheriff’s Office says following an investigation, A 33-year-old man is facing the following charges:
Involuntary Manslaughter
Aggravated Battery
Driving Under the Influence
Aggravated Child Endangerment
No Liability Insurance
Reckless Driving
Failure to Maintain Lane
Canton Police took him into custody, and he was booked into the McPherson County Jail shortly before noon Friday. It is KSN News Policy not to identify suspects until they have been formally charged.
