TOPEKA (KSNT) – Are you registered to vote?
This year will see three major elections take place in Kansas, including the election of a new president near the end of 2024. The Kansas Secretary of State (SOS) keeps a running list of important election-related dates to keep in mind on its website. These dates are related to the Presidential Preference Primary (PPP), Primary Election and General Election.
Presidential Preference Primary
Tuesday, Jan. 2 – Deadline for political parties to send the party rules for delegate allocation to the SOS.
Tuesday, Jan. 16 – Deadline for political parties to let the SOS know who is eligible to vote in each party’s PPP.
Friday, Jan. 19 – Candidates have until noon to file to run in the PPP.
Tuesday, Feb. 20 – Deadline to register to vote or update voter registration information to participate in the PPP.
Wednesday, Feb. 28 – First day of advance voting. Advance ballots by mail are transmitted. In-person voting also starts.
Monday, March 18 – In-person advance voting ends at noon.
Tuesday, March 19 – PPP takes place.
Primary Election
Monday, June 3 – You have until noon on this day to change your party affiliation to participate in the 2024 Primary Election.
Tuesday, July 16 – Deadline to register to vote or update your voter registration information to participate in the 2024 Primary Election.
Wednesday, July 17 – First day of advance voting. Advance ballots by mail are transmitted. In-person advance voting starts.
Tuesday, July 30 – Final day to apply for an advance voting mail ballot.
Monday, Aug. 5 – In-person advance voting ends at noon.
Tuesday, Aug. 6 – 2024 Primary Election takes place.
2024 General Election
Tuesday, Oct. 15 – Deadline to register to vote or updated your voter registration information to participate in the 2024 General Election.
Wednesday, Oct. 16 – First day of advance voting. Advance ballots by mail are transmitted. In-person advance voting starts.
Tuesday, Oct. 29 – Final day to apply for an advance voting mail ballot.
Monday, Nov. 4 – In-person advance voting ends at noon.
Tuesday, Nov. 5 – 2024 General Election takes place.
