WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Bostic Elementary School welcomed a former student and NASA employee on Monday morning for a little chat with the students.
Clarence Bostic is the science activation program manager for NASA, and his father is the school’s namesake. The fifth-graders talked about what they recently learned in science class: constellations.

“So we’re just talking to other hopefully future NASA employees and other potential astronauts and scientists and engineers,” Clarence Bostic said.
Bostic has previously worked for the Department of Defense and at a Naval base in Japan. He wants students to realize their education in math, science and reading can take them anywhere for all kinds of careers.
“We have a bunch of people working for NASA that would encourage you, but they could go anywhere with the mathematics that they learn here and the reading and the education,” Bostic said.
Bostic’s father was a principal at multiple schools in Wichita and promoted lots of reading into the school day. His family still donates books to the school’s library every year.
