Man hospitalized after semi slips on ice north of Emporia

EMPORIA (KSNT) – A 28-year-old from California was injured after crashing due to icy roads north of Emporia on Monday.

At 2:15 a.m., the 28-year-old was driving a 2016 Kenworth semi-truck south on I335. The vehicle slid on an icy road and went through a guardrail, causing the vehicle to jackknife and slide into a ditch, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The man was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. The man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to the KHP.
