“The designation of Arkansas City as a Purple Heart City holds deep meaning. It reflects the city’s dedication to recognizing and honoring Purple Heart recipients, both living and deceased. Additionally, the city aims to pay tribute to all veterans residing within its boundaries who have bravely served in the military,” Frank said.

Frank’s son is commemorated through the Seargent Kevin A. Gilbertson Memorial Bridge in south Arkansas City.

Arkansas City city manager Randy Frazer is also coordinating efforts to create signage with the new declaration at the city limits. The initiative includes plans for a recognition celebration to commemorate the occasion once the signs are installed.
