WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Boeing’s CEO David Calhoun was in Wichita on Wednesday to meet with Spirit AeroSystems employees.
Spirit AeroSystems builds the fuselages and other parts of Boeing planes.
Calhoun met with Spirit CEO Patrick Shanahan and employees from different departments in a 30-minute town hall.
A Spirit spokesman said Calhoun addressed issues with the making of 737s. Shanahan told Spirit employees the following:
“We need to be calm and focus on the tasks at hand. As we make changes and improvements, I need your support to lead from the front. To act with urgency and purpose. With your leadership and working in lockstep with the NTSB, the FAA, the airlines, and Boeing, we will restore confidence.”
The FAA is currently investigating the manufacturing process after a plug blew off an Alaska Airlines 737 Max 9 flight earlier this month.
This week, Boeing named a retired Navy admiral to lead its quality review.
