Another cold front comes through today and a bitter northerly breeze will signal its arrival. Even though many of us were able to get above freezing mid-week, warmth that we gained will start to get shaved off of highs today.
There is some wintry weather nearby that could impact the area today but chances are looking low.
A few flurries will be possible to the north during the afternoon and into the evening. A few flakes will also attempt to dip south of I-70 into South Central Kansas tonight but impacts from this chance will not be significant.
In anticipation of dangerous cold that will arrive at the end of the week, a Wind Chill Advisory will start to go into effect this evening.
Be sure to bundle up for not only a colder start to Friday but we will need to pack on the layers in order to make it through the whole day.
Dangerous cold lingers into the first half of the weekend. Wind chills could be as low as -20 to -30.
At least we will not see highs in the single digits and this next arctic blast will not last as long as the last one. High temperatures will get back above freezing as early as Sunday.
With temperatures closer to normal and another active pattern into next week, we have some rain chances on the way. Monday’s chance will mainly be between Central and Eastern Kansas.
By mid-week, some showers will spread into more of the area and could mix with some snow to the west.
