LAWRENCE (KSNT) – KU quarterback Jalon Daniels will have familiar faces to throw the football to in 2024.
The Jayhawks are expected to get their trio of top senior wide receivers back for a fifth-year.
Lawrence Arnold and Luke Grimm announced their plans to return in 2024 on social media in early January. On Wednesday, a source confirmed to 27 News that Quentin Skinner will also return for another year. Skinner is listed on the KU football roster and participating in spring workouts.
It’s an affirmation of commitment from KU’s top three wide receivers, by yardage, in 2023. The trio all arrived in Lawrence, Kansas in 2020 and played one year for Les Miles but elected to stay at KU through a coaching change. The loyalty paid off in 2023 as Grimm, Arnold and Skinner combined for 1,924 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in a season which produced KU’s first bowl win since 2008 and the program’s first nine-win season since 2007.

The ‘Big 3’ of Jayhawk receivers bring back a combined 119 games of college football experience. The Guaranteed Rate Bowl win showcased the skillset of KU’s wideout group, perhaps better than any other game. The three senior receivers combined for 372 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Kansas will have to replace the production of tight end Mason Fairchild, who was fourth on the team in receiving yards in 2023, as the Andale, Kansas native exhausted his college eligibility. However, the ‘Hawks are likely expecting a boost from Topeka native DeShawn Hanika. Hanika transferred to KU from Iowa State this offseason.
