TCU cancels women’s basketball game against K-State

17 January 2024

FORT WORTH, Texas (KSNT) – K-State and TCU were scheduled to take the floor for a women’s basketball match in Fort Worth on Wednesday, Jan. 17 but that game will no longer take place.

The game has been canceled and will not be rescheduled, TCU Athletics announced Tuesday morning. According to NCAA policy, K-State is awarded an conference win, but not given an overall win, for the TCU forfeit. So, the Wildcats’ conference record improves to 6-0 but their overall record stays put at 17-1. Likewise, the Frogs suffer a conference loss but do not receive a hit to their overall record.

The game was canceled, “Due to injuries within the program and in the interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes,” TCU Athletics said in a statement.

K-State entered Wednesday night on an 11-game winning streak. TCU, prior to Wednesday night, was 14-4 overall but 1-4 in Big 12 play and on a four-game losing streak.

The Horned Frogs also canceled their game on Saturday, Jan. 20 against Iowa State.

Some K-State fans are less than thrilled with how TCU Athletics is handling the situation. Instead of outright refunds, TCU Athletics announced fans who purchases tickets to Wednesday night’s game can exchange them for any remaining TCU home game based on availability.
