2 men charged with first degree murder in death of 1-year-old Taidyn Anderson

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Two men have been charged with murder in the first degree for the death of 1-year-old Taidyn Anderson on Monday, Feb. 19.

According to court documents, 21-year-old Jonathan Tillery-Matthias and 25-year-old K’Veion Richard have each been charged with murder in the first degree; in the commission of a felony and criminal discharge of a firearm; recklessly at occupied dwelling.

Both are being individually held on a $1.5 million bond. Their next court date is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6.

According to the Wichita Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call in the 2500 block of S. Oliver on Feb. 19.

Upon arrival, officers found three shooting victims, a 1-year-old now identified as Taidyn Anderson and two 24-year-old women.

All three were taken to a local hospital. Anderson died of his injuries. The two women suffered critical but non-life-threatening injuries.


Garden City police chase ends in crash, road closed

An investigation revealed that other people were also in the home, including a 24-year-old man, a 5-year-old girl and a 10-month-old girl. None of them were struck by the gunfire.

Based on the evidence, the WPD says they believe it was a targeted incident and that the suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun into the apartment.
